9/25/2011 -  5k Walk-a-thon - Three Angels SDA Church (Penticton) - BRITISH COLUMBIA - CANADA

9/25/2011 - 1 to 5 KM - ONTARIO - CANADA
We are encouraging all church members to meet in Springbank Park on Sunday morning September 25th at 9:00 AM. There will be a walk of 1 to 5 KM marked out for you. Just walk as much as you want and register your KM when you are done. We will convert the KM to miles for the input for the day. We are also asking all of our CHIP friends to join us if they can. A breakfast potluck is planned for after the walk. Please bring healthy cereal, soy milk or regular milk, fruit, bread, peanut butter etc. Everything will be put together to share. Also bring cutlery, plate and bowl for the food. Take Commissioners Road West to the second entrance to Springbank Park. This entrance is across from Shoppers Drug Mart. A parking lot is on the left. There are lots of picnic tables and if the shelter is not being used we will use it. There is also new washrooms close by. If you have any questions contact Kathy or Gord at 519-472-6066.

Alaska Let’s Move Day on Sept 25 will be the culmination of Alaska Youth Summit Sept 23-24. Sept 25 Sunday at 12 noon will  be a 4 mile walk, run, bike, wheelchair event. The conference office will be doing a 5K walk on Sunday the 25th from our conference location to Jamba Juice in downtown Pleasant Hill and back. We  we are starting at 8:00 a.m. All employees who participate in the office Let's move activity will receive a free t-shirt. NCC Pathfinder clubs will take part in the Let's Move events as part of their Annual Pathfinder weekend. NCC schools are having Let's Move events and wellness programs through the weekend. Participants will include various Tongan and Samoan young adult groups from area Adventist churches. Starts at 9 a.m. at the Hawthorne Adventist Church, 3939 Marine Ave. Starts with a 30-minute briefing on the Let’s Move campaign against child obesity. Presenter, Trurina L. Cummings, N.C.,PhD, a consultant and practitioner of Alternative and Complementary Healthcare and a nutritionist. Then the group will head out to the Santa Monica Pier. The uniform of the day: a white tee shirt and armband (which will be provided). The youth will march down the promenade to the main pier, stopping twice to sing a gospel song on the way and ending at a designated picnic area for a light picnic. The group will have worship and singing while at the beach. Some of the group may spend the rest of the day swimming and playing volleyball. Info: 310-676-4313.

 The Place will also raise funds for Hacienda Oaks Estates, an organization in Simi Valley that teaches functioning  life skills to adults with autism and other related developmental disabilities and neurological disorders. We have a bike riding event, a family walk and picnic in a park with trails which vary in length (9/24), and an event at the Spring Valley Academy Fall Festival where people will use pedometers and then report their miles during that event.

The Kettering Adventist Church is planning a “Let’s Move Day” 5 K run/walk/crawl, as a kick-off for the NAD health initiative to reach 1 million miles! The 5K run will be held outdoors at the Kettering recreation Center on September 25, 2011 at 8:00am . T-shirts will be given to participants and a $15.00 registration fee will be charged. Proceeds will be donated to the Dayton YWCA. Any Dayton area SDA church that does not have a program planned for this day is welcome to join the Kettering Let’s Move Day run/walk.
